Research shows programs that integrate career-focused activities into learning, often improve graduation rates and promote higher postsecondary participation. Recognizing the dual benefit of exposure and access to work-based learning opportunities towards the development of behavioral norms and self-esteem, FTA incorporates work based learning opportunities into the student's schedule every school year.
Through partnership with the city/county leaders, community partners and corporations, FTA students are assigned to a job site. Students earn grades and credit toward graduation during their freshman and sophomore years. Studejts then progress to paid internships during their junior and senior years if they have maintained an overall worksite performance score of 80% or higher.
