The Restorative Learning Model (RLM) is an Educational Therapy developed that combines the principles of research-based behavioral theories and frameworks with cognitive competencies to strengthen a youth’s ability to respond appropriately socially, emotionally, and behaviorally.
RLM considers the impact of youth's cognitive ability on their behavior. It focuses on the appropriate identification, examination, intervention, and restoration of behavior through application, in response to delinquent behavior.
RLM practices center on helping students respond to four critical questions:
1. What is the problem (Identification)?
2. What are the influencing factors or elements of the problem (Examination)?
3. How can the problem be resolved (Intervention)?
4. What new skills and habits were developed? (Restoration)
FTA's innovative school model is designed to support students with high needs, as determined by juvenile court records, school academic /discipline records, or medical reports. Recognizing the need to ensure whole child development, FTA reinforces a culture of academic achievement and socio-emotional support through restorative counseling and intervention.
To ensure students graduate ready to ready, reformed, and restored, students will take a required RLM-Mental Health Course during their first semester of enrollment.
Depending on the need, additional elective courses will be assigned at the discretion of the Director of Restoration and Counseling.
